To celebrate upcoming Volunteers Week (1st – 7th June) Middlesbrough Volunteer Centre is planning a couple of activities which we’d love you to join in with. Nationally NCVO is not running a campaign this year, however we felt the efforts shown by people stepping up to volunteer in the current crisis is too amazing to pass by.

We organise a volunteer co-ordinators meeting regularly throughout the year, providing a networking and learning opportunity designed to bring volunteer co-ordinators from Middlesbrough together to connect and share, learn with and from each other as well as develop best practices for engaging volunteers.

MVDA has been asked to help source facemasks; local organisations want to keep volunteers safe but don’t want to take away supplies that could be going to NHS staff or other frontline workers. In the recent Outlook e-bulletin we invited you to tell us about suppliers you know about that can provide facemasks for volunteers.

This project is led by Recovery Connections in partnership with My Sisters Place, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. It is a much-needed service in support of people on a recovery pathway from addiction who have experienced trauma. The project will provide specialist trauma support offering participants an opportunity to build resilience and work towards recovery.
