MVDA welcomes Martin Harvey and Ania Deputat who are working on the LocalMotion Middlesbrough programme as Coordinators.
MVDA is hosting the LocalMotion programme which is a social, economic and environmental justice movement backed by six major charity funders, which believes that every voice matters, and by coming together, we can create a positive change in our community.
They recently coordinated the Middlesbrough Voices event which provided a unique platform for residents to share their experiences of living in the town and brainstorm ideas to foster positive change within the community.
Martin Harvey introduces himself:
"I’m working, alongside my colleague Ania, as a Co-ordinator on the LocalMotion programme for Middlesbrough. My background is working in both Local Government and the Voluntary Sector on Teesside in a variety of roles. My most recent was to oversee the provision of community facilities and libraries in Middlesbrough operated by Middlesbrough Council. Prior to that I worked in Councils for Voluntary Services in both Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-On-Tees.
I am extremely excited by my new role working for LocalMotion, as it brings me into regular contact with the wealth of local organisations and volunteers working to make the town a better place to live. I believe LocalMotion can make a valuable contribution to that, by providing opportunities for residents to have a greater voice in positive initiatives locally and ensuring local services are shaped around their needs."

Ania Deputat introduces herself:
"I recently joined MVDA as a LocalMotion Middlesbrough Coordinator, a role I share with my work colleague Martin Harvey. I am passionate about supporting local communities, inspiring action, and ensuring that the stories of local people shape the way we work and create change.
Originally from Poland, I moved to Teesside for a gap year to volunteer at different charities in the North East. I fell in love with Teesside, and after spending 10 years in Boro, I consider myself a local lass.
Before joining MVDA, I worked for Public Health South Tees as an Age-Friendly Coordinator, where I championed and developed projects that reduce isolation and loneliness among older residents. My role involved facilitating collaboration opportunities, co-designing activities, and new ways of working to ensure that the town is friendly for all ages. I also worked for local charities such as Teesside Mind or A Way Out, which helped me better understand the value of a person-centred approach and thinking outside of the box when working with people.
I am thrilled to join LocalMotion a social, economic, and environmental justice network that focuses on putting communities at the very centre of their work. I am excited to see the future progress of our work and what can happen if we enable local people to take action on things that matter to them."
