Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary has contacted us with an offer to raise sponsorship for your charity through their upcoming sponsored bike ride. Please read their offer below and get in touch with them if interested:
"This past year has been extremely difficult for all charities who rely heavily on fund-raising to support their activities. At Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary, we have been regularly frustrated when we have had to cancel planned events due to Covid restrictions and we know that many charities are struggling due to very limited opportunities to raise funds.
Thankfully, we can now look forward with some optimism and we have a plan that we hope will benefit many local charities. Through a very generous offer from the Middlesbrough Sports Village management team we have secured the exclusive use of their Cycle Track over two days, 4 and 5 September this year. We are fairly confident that an open-air event will be feasible by then. The Cycle Track at Sports Village is accessed off Ladgate Lane/Marton Road and is a tarmacked track approximately 5m wide and 1Km in length. It is secure and safe for all ages.
Our plan is to organise a sponsored bike ride for groups and families. We expect that all participants will obtain sponsorship. We intend to offer local charities the opportunity to provide entries and in return they will retain all the sponsorship proceeds from their own supporters.
In short, we will organise the event and we ask you to encourage your supporters to take part and all the monies they raise will go directly to your charity.
Individual Rotary clubs will be entering teams and all proceeds they raise will go to supporting prostate cancer research and treatment as this event is part of an annual nationwide cycle weekend raising funds for that cause.
We will be providing more detail in a short while but in the meantime, we would be like to know if this is a fund-raising opportunity that your charity would welcome.
An expression of interest by emailing Edmund Levie e.levie@btinternet.com will be very much appreciated and help us to plan the event.
With Very Best Wishes from All Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Members."
