Holiday Activity Fund 2021

Picture of a young super hero

Organisations that wish to make an application for an allocation of Holiday Activities Fund (HAF) money in order to deliver HAF holiday clubs in the school summer holidays of 2021 can use this information and application form below. It should be considered alongside the other documentation provided as part of the application process including the criteria document and guidance around food.

School holidays can be particular pressure points for some families because of increased costs (such as food and childcare) and reduced incomes.  For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap.  Children from disadvantaged families will be:

  • Less likely to access organised out-of-school activities;
  • More likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health;
  • More likely to experience social isolation.

Holiday clubs are a response to this issue. Evidence suggests that they can have a positive impact on children and young people.

In 2021, the Department for Education is providing Holiday Activities Fund (HAF) money to all of the Local Authorities across England.  The Fund enables the Local Authorities to coordinate free (at the point of use) holiday provision for targeted children.  Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough Councils are seeking organisations to deliver holiday clubs across South Tees during the summer holidays of 2021.  Organisations are invited to make applications for funding to deliver the clubs.
