We are here to support, promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough

Help us identify the go-to members of our communities for Changing Futures

Craig Duerden from MVDA and Anne Richards from RCVDA need your help to initially map the people, skills, networks and support groups within the area as we begin the Changing Futures 3-year programme.

They want to identify the ‘go-to’ members of our communities, those trusted people and VCS organisations who are often the first point of contact for the person looking for help and advice. They need this involvement to create a different approach to service design and provision.

Changing Futures is a 3-year £64m programme funded by Central Government’s Shared Outcomes Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund. It is being delivered across South Tees by the Local Authorities along with commissioned services and the VCS.

The aim of the programme is to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable adults, ensuring they get the support they need by better co-ordinating public and voluntary services and to provide joined-up support to those who are experiencing multiple disadvantages. This includes combinations of homelessness, substance misuse, mental health issues, domestic abuse.

What is required is change to the way things are organised or ‘system change’. The VCS is integral to the delivery of support to these people and by working together the VCS can help to address the many reasons for the disadvantage.
