Exciting opportunity for young people aged 10-16

Exciting opportunity for young people aged 10-16 from the Middlesbrough area which is completely free of charge.

Heather Insull from Youth Focus NE and Donna Bagley from Change Grow Live (CGL) are part of a working group which focuses on Middlesbrough residents and the impact drinking at home is causing as well as also unseen difficulties and the hidden harm that is presented to people who are or who live with someone who has increased their alcohol consumption within the home.

With the this in mind they want to provide some creative opportunities for young people may benefit from this experience. They have a student from York Saint John University, studying drama who will be running some workshops around the theme of drinking at home. These are interactive and informative workshops to benefit young people. The aim of the workshops is to provide the participants with the knowledge and information needed for them to access support if they themselves or any of their peers are struggling as a result of the effects of alcohol within the home. The student is planning through their drama facilitation to explore through a variety of drama techniques, the potential scenarios that could arise within the home with regards to increased alcohol consumption and the issues that this could cause for young people, but also most importantly exploring through drama how the participants can access support to help themselves or their peers who may be in such a situation.

The sessions are due to be running on the following dates at the Pallister Park Centre, Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough TS3 7AR. However, if you have an accessible facility where they can deliver these workshops, then please do get in contact with Heather (email below).
