Connecting Locally: local voluntary and community infrastructure in England

NAVCA members, like us, provide real value in our communities, strengthening the local voluntary and community sector, according to a new report.

The research demonstrates local infrastructure responds to local needs, delivering a community-led approach to enable meaningful engagement, collaboration and capacity building. Areas such as health, employment and education are all strengthened when there is a thriving local voluntary and community sector.

The research was carried out by the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research at Sheffield Hallam University for NAVCA. It demonstrates the importance and value of local infrastructure using the lens of the Four Functions of Infrastructure: leadership and advocacy, partnership and collaboration, capacity building, and volunteering. It shows the impact that NAVCA members, like ourselves at MVDA, have in our local communities.
