Committed to improving the education and life chances for young people from across the Tees Valley and a strong track record of transformative success for students, Hopefields is now seeking to recruit a suitably qualified SEN Specialist Teacher to join our existing team. The successful candidate would teach a semi-formal thematic curriculum to all abilities and age ranges in small groups of up to 5 students. The education that Hopefields offers is tailored to individual need, delivered in a structured, holistic classroom environment benefitting from high staff to student ratios
Candidates applying for this position would have experience of facilitating and driving forward the outcomes for vulnerable young people with complex sensory and educational needs, who may have associated medical needs. Experience in producing and delivering packages of learning, curriculum planning, directing staff and delivering CPD is essential. The teacher will be required to monitor and record student progress, writing reports and conducting assessments.
A teaching qualification is required for this role, along with an interest in professional development and the pedagogy of teaching and learning is essential. We would expect the successful candidate to have an understanding and working knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice, and a calm, warm but firm approach with young people. A solid educational grounding and good general knowledge would be advantageous. Personal strengths and interests which complement the work of our current team would offer considerable scope to customise the role in the candidate’s choice of direction.
Candidates should be versatile, enthusiastic and flexible, with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently, creatively and positively, using their own initiative.
Hopefields delivers a knowledge rich curriculum within a warm but disciplined environment, being outcome led, and outcome focused. Our thematic approach to curriculum intent and implementation provides meaningful holistic and therapeutic practices throughout the provision day.
