Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC) is an independent charity that promotes healthy and sustainable lifestyles using the ten principles of One Planet Living. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Project Officer to support a partnership of organisations to deliver Climate Action Middlesbrough, a new initiative to engage Middlesbrough’s communities in taking action to address the climate crisis. The project will work with partner organisations and the wider community to develop community leadership and support changes locally including at a policy, environmental, community and individual level.
You will be responsible for the day to day delivery of Climate Action Middlesbrough including supporting the Project Coordinator, support work with external partners, facilitate events, support with the collection and maintenance of accurate information and to engage with young people.
With a sound understanding of the climate crisis, you will have previous experience of delivering community-based projects and have the ability to engage with community groups and organisations. You will require excellent communication and organisational skills and a have commitment to a community-led approach to addressing climate change locally.
