Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC) is an independent charity that promotes healthy and sustainable lifestyles using the ten principles of One Planet Living. MEC have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic Forest School practitioner who is dedicated to the ethos of Forest School in its true form of experiential child-initiated exploration to help deliver a unique project.
The Forest School practitioner will work on the Boro Active Explorers project; an initiative to engage children, families, schools and communities with their local environment, increasing physical activity, improving mental-wellbeing and reconnecting them with the natural environment through outdoor learning. Forest Schools offers a unique and exciting way to deliver and complement learning in the outdoors, as well as building social and life skills and increasing physical activity.
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the project and planning, leading and delivering dynamic forest school and outdoor activities in a range of settings with schools, community groups and young people in innovative and exciting ways. It will involve working with schools to promote Forest School and outdoor learning within the Create Active School Framework, promoting outdoor learning across the school curriculum.
