Nepacs is a regional charity which supports positive futures for prisoners and their families.
Nepacs is partway through a three year funded pilot project to support prisoners and their families to sustain family ties and deal with any family issues which have arisen as a result of a custodial sentence. The project focuses on receptions or recalls in to prison within the North East, providing additional family support resource at HMP Durham. The family support case work is delivered alongside a helpline which offers support to family members.
We are seeking to recruit a prison-based Family Support Assistant to help the Early Days Family Support Worker provide support to prisoners and their families, with regard to family contact or relationship issues in the first 14 days of custody. They will assist with the support provided to prisoners and their families, and help with appropriate administrative tasks including Excel data input and uploading information to prison recording systems.
Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience of working with families, good IT skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced challenging environment.
The contract is fixed term and is subject to Prison Service vetting, DBS checks and pre employment checks.
