Teesside Hospice is looking for a bright, efficient communicator to take our community support to the next level. You will develop and inspire volunteers and supporters to ensure we have a community presence and our campaign activity is as effective as possible in delivering the maximum impact and income.
Lots of local people love Teesside Hospice, what we do and how we do it and we need someone to make sure people within our community, who want to support us, can and have the best experience possible.
Reporting to the Fundraising Manager and working closely with our ambitious and highly motivated fundraising team, your role will be to build, develop and maintain fantastic relationships throughout our local area.
If you thrive on the challenge of setting and achieving ambitious goals, think the only way to approach a target is to tackle it head on, and can bring the energy that adds some drive to how you approach your fundraising, then we would love to support you in achieving your goals and helping us ensure everyone gets to live well until the very end of their life.
Here’s a rough guide to what our Community Fundraiser does and the type of person they are:
- Be out and about in the community ensuring all supporters have a memorable experience of raising money for Teesside Hospice through community fundraising opportunities.
- Research, identify and secure new community fundraising opportunities.
- Approach and source new support from community groups (including schools, faith groups, clubs, pubs, groups and individuals).
- Provide fundraising support and empowerment to local companies supporting Teesside Hospice in the workplace.
- Build relationships with our Retail staff and volunteers and support their initiatives, they are key to the success of our community fundraising.
- Like everyone in our small and passionate team, you'll muck in when you need to! You'll load stuff into vans, you may even drive the van to events.
- You will need to be prepared to work the occasional weekend day or evening when something needs to be done, but we promise you’ll have lots of fun!
About you
- You should be emotionally intelligent and have a natural communication style that is easily adapted to suit the situation.
- You will be brave and willing to throw yourself into new situations, you’ll be proud to wear our branded t-shirt and hoodie and love getting involved at different fundraising events.
- You have the organisational skills and attention to detail to hold relationships with multiple supporters at any one time.
- You are a confident networker who can communicate well with other people from all sorts of different backgrounds.
- You will be someone who can keep contacts engaged – making them feel valued, and loving what we do.
- You are the kind of person who is excited by a day that could include everything from attending a coffee morning, seeing how good our marque looks at a local event - to saying thank you to a small business that has taken time out to raise money.
- You’ll have some personal resilience. Fundraising can be a tough job at times but you’ll know how to celebrate the successes when they happen!
- You are someone who wants to have an impact, who likes to throw themselves into something. There is no room for someone who looks forward to 5pm arriving so they can leave.
What we offer you
- Support from the wider fundraising team
- Generous holiday allowance starting at 28 days plus the statutory Bank Holidays
- Contributory pension scheme
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Staff discount in our stores
