Children’s and Young People’s Counsellor (Young Carers)
Salary £24,907 plus 3% increment increase per annum subject to funding and satisfactory performance.
Temporary until 31st March 2022 (extension possible subject to funding)
37.5 hours per week

We have a long and proud history of providing support to children, young people and families through our Young Carers Service for children, young people and families with a caring responsibility under the age of eighteen. Children and young people tell us that the rewards of caring for family members are numerous in relation to self-efficacy, life skills and their view of the world and others, however young carers can face many challenges in relation to their caring role. This can be linked to missed opportunities and access, pressure and differing expectations in their lives or the emotional issues linked to family illness.
We provide emotional wellbeing support, evidence-based interventions (including FRIENDS and CYP IAPT) although demand for services is increasing and we are now looking to develop our services by offering counselling services within Young Carers to enhance the breadth and depth of services we can offer. The ideal Candidate will be a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor (although applications from those close to completing accreditation will be considered) who has the passion to provide excellence within interventions, balance throughput and making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people they work with and work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure coordination of support.
