All of us have a role to play in safeguarding. As organisations we have a duty of care to everyone who comes into contact with our organisation including staff, volunteers and the public. No child or adult should be made to feel unsafe.
To help us achieve this means supporting the key principle that all children and adults have the right to be safe from harm and should be able to live free from fear of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Safeguarding is about actively preventing abuse and harm and making sure your organisation is equipped to do this through awareness of safeguarding and having relevant policies, practices and procedures in place.
To help with this we have created a new Safeguarding page on our website with lots of useful information and links for the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) on how to improve your safeguarding practice and protect those people who come into contact with your organisation.
Survey into understanding Safeguarding within Middlesbrough's VCS
MVDA is undertaking a short survey into how local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups understand and respond to safeguarding issues or concerns within their organisation and in the community. The aim of this survey is to gauge the knowledge, capacity, training and support needs within Middlesbrough’s VCS around safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.
This is not a review of your organisation, and the survey can be completed anonymously but we do encourage you to be as honest as possible about your current practice and culture in relation to safeguarding to enable us to accurately determine the training and support needs of Middlesbrough’s VCS.
The results of the survey will be analysed, and the findings will be brought together into a report with recommendations. The report will be shared with Middlesbrough VCS and key safeguarding stakeholders including local Adults and Children’s Safeguarding Boards. Individual contributions to the survey will not be shared.
The survey can be completed using the survey link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6K7XRS6
If you require assistance in completing the form or a paper version, please contact Lesley Spaven at Lesley.spaven@mvdauk.org.uk
The closing date for responses is 29 April 2022.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey.
