The Youth Commission enables young people to support, challenge and inform the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland, Lisa Oldroyd (Acting PCC). This is an exciting peer-led project to enable young people to influence the strategy for policing and crime in their area.
What they are offering:
They are looking to engage participants aged 14-25 years who are currently residents of the Cleveland policing area. They’re contacting local organisations to offer an interactive workshop for students (either via ZOOM or inhouse) and an option of an online survey. These workshops will be co-designed and delivered by members of the Youth Commission, and supported by a member of our staff.
What the peer-led research aims to do:
The aim of the workshops is to gather the views, perceptions and experience of young people and provide an opportunity to gather their top solutions for the following key priorities:
- Mental Health
- Youth Activities and Preventing Re-offending
- Young people and their Relationship with the Police
- Hate Crime and Online Crime
- Drugs and Alcohol Addictions
They want to create a ‘Big Conversation’ using the views, experiences and perceptions from young people in the Cleveland area. The aim is to collate the data and make recommendation and feedback to the Police and Crime Commissioner at the Youth Commission Conference in March 2021.
Key Skills:
This opportunity allows young people to have a say in influencing the strategy for crime and policing in Cleveland, as well as providing a fun, informative and interactive workshop on the difficulties we face in this area. It will also aid in building your students teamwork, awareness and knowledge of the key issues.
