Lloyds Bank Foundation has funded a report by New Local (formerly NLGN) that is being published next week and builds on their Community Paradigm work. The report is focused on a community-led approach to back to work support for those furthest from the labour market, away from centralised approaches that fail to provide effective support. A launch event is being held on 9th November (details below). It would be great if you could join us and/or share details with others you think would be interested.
Lloyds Bank Foundation is delighted to invite you to New Local’s online discussion ‘This isn’t working: Reimagining employment support for people facing complex disadvantage’, to be held on Monday 9 November, 11:30am – 12:30pm.
Places are limited, to secure yours, please register here today.
The session will discuss the findings of New Local’s upcoming report, which calls for a more community-led approach to employment support, published in partnership with Lloyds Bank Foundation.
The report argues that the DWP-led employment support system is failing millions of people who face complex disadvantage, often involving disabilities and long-term health conditions. It sets out a new vision for a system in which power is devolved to create local, community-led forms of employment support.
The session will be chaired by Jessica Studdert, Deputy Chief Executive of New Local, who will be joined by a panel of experts to reflect on the report’s findings and explore the issues of how this approach to employment support can be realised in practice.
Speakers include:
- Lisa Connelly, Employment Services Manager at Halifax Opportunities Trust
- Kaliya Franklin, Disability Rights Campaigner
- Tom Pollard, main author of the report
- Cllr Kieron Williams, Leader of Southwark Council
Please register here to join the discussion, and do kindly share this email with any colleagues you think may be interested in attending.
