World Jewish Relief are recruiting for an Employment Advisor
Contract: Full time, fixed-term contract to December 2023
World Jewish Relief are the UK's Jewish community’s leading international development and humanitarian agency. Our mission is to assist those living in poverty, affected by disaster or who are displaced, to survive, earn a living, find employment and be better able to support themselves. We tackle Jewish poverty and reach beyond our community. We create opportunities for those out of work to become self-reliant; we bring dignity to the elderly and we respond to international disasters. We are the largest and an award winning provider of specialist employment support to refugees in the UK. We are working with Open Door North East, a charity whose mission is to support refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants in the Tees valley to move out of poverty and destitution and be empowered to achieve their full potential.
The Role

Based at the Open Door North East office in Stockton-on-Tees you will provide support to refugees in Stockton and Hartlepool as part of our Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) which supports refugees to develop the skills and identify the opportunities to secure sustainable employment.
In this role you will provide advice and guidance to a caseload of clients. You will work with them on a one-to-one basis and develop individual action plans to help them secure employment. This could be developing or updating their CV, assisting with writing job applications and cover letters or arranging ESOL classes.
You should have experience of advising unemployed individuals into paid employment and understand the issues and challenges they face, including those whose first language is not English. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative as well as within a team structure.
