ARCH is a leading provider of sexual violence support in Teesside. Based in Middlesbrough we provide a range of services to meet our client’s needs including emotional & practical support, therapeutic counselling, and an Independent Sexual Violence Advisory (ISVA) service, enabling us to support clients who have reported or are thinking of reporting their experiences to the police.
Job Purpose
To provide a therapeutic service to adults, young people and children who have been affected by sexual violence. To work within BACP Ethical Framework, ensuring that high professional and ethical standards are maintained.
You will provide individual counselling to men, women, young people and children who are referred to the service, using a variety of therapeutic techniques and conduct Initial assessments of clients referred to the service to identify therapeutic needs and the appropriateness of counselling.
Challenges of the role
Candidates should note that this work can be stressful and demanding, dealing with complex and sometimes harrowing issues. However, to assist with the challenges of the work, the sexual violence counsellor will have access to clinical supervision alongside regular monthly case management to support them in the role.
Desirable
- Experience of facilitating group work and delivery of training packages
- Experience of conducting client assessments
- Experience of working remotely i.e. providing therapeutic interventions via online platform or by telephone.
