What’s the role all about?
We are currently looking for a youth-focused individual, passionate about ending homelessness, to join our community engagement team. You will be responsible for embedding and promoting our new services in Cumbria and the North East.
As Community Engagement and Communications Coordinator, you will have a primary focus on recruiting volunteer ‘hosts’ for Nightstop and making sure people at risk of homelessness are pointed in the direction of Depaul.
In addition, you will develop and implement a comprehensive and effective programme of communications and community engagement activities to promote Nightstop North East & Cumbria, creating engaging publicity content and engaging with local organizations, groups and networks.

What will ideally support your success in this role?
- Experience of building effective community relationships, with community, voluntary, and statutory sectors in the area
- Demonstrable knowledge of the homeless / social care / young people sector
- Experience in media relations, including writing press releases and handling media enquiries, and a knowledge of key media outlets in North East & Cumbria
- Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering successful marketing campaigns and promoting a project through social media
- Excellent standard of written English, and experience of writing engaging materials for a range of audiences
- A willingness to travel independently around North East & Cumbria, and occasionally nationally
- To ensure that confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Knowledge of safeguarding in relation to vulnerable young people or adults
