Family Support Assistant/Befriender - (Initially 12 month fixed term contract as this role is funding dependent)
6 hours per week (initially) £10.17 per hour
Matrix Neurological is an innovative charity based in Middlesbrough that exists to help remove inequalities for children and young people living with an acquired brain injury. We also provide practical and emotional peer support to their families.
Due to gaining some additional funding to expand our innovative team, we are looking for 4 dynamic and highly motivated individuals. You must be passionate about helping children and young people to recover following a brain injury, by maximising their skills and personal development through provision of non-clinical interventions. 2 posts will work as outreach and 2 are office-based support roles.
You will have experience of person-centred support, be compassionate and understanding; possess excellent communication and administration skills and be experienced in working with disadvantaged children and young people with behavioural difficulties.
You do not need experience of acquired brain injury in children and young people as training will be provided; however it would be an advantage.
This role is to assist the Case Manager and to provide emotional and practical support to the families/parents/carers of brain injured children and young people. You will be hosting virtual 1-1 and group support sessions and will be office based. You will have experience of adult mental health issues and/or successfully engaging with parents in need of emotional support and understanding.
All these posts are subject to either an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (EDBS) check or a Disclosure and Barring service check (DBS) and will commence in January 2021.
To apply for any of these posts, please contact us on 01642 989116 to request an application pack.
