KIDS KABIN - Project Development Worker
Kids Kabin are looking to appoint a dynamic, creative and enthusiastic project development worker to join our growing Middlesbrough team. You will be working with young people to provide opportunities for learning and personal development using creative and practical activities. You will follow safeguarding and Health and Safety guidelines as well as working closely with families and the wider community in response to changing needs and demands.
Work with young people
To support the personal development needs of young people aged 7-13 years through a range of creative activities, assisting them to evaluate risks and set their own personal goals. To run in-house and satellite sessions, street and outreach workshops, day trips, residential activities and camps as necessary. Supporting and training young volunteers (aged 13+) and adult volunteers.

To understand the ethos of Kids Kabin and be aware of your own values, how they relate to Kids Kabin and different people in the organisation. To reflect on your own practice and the practice of others and be willing to undertake ongoing personal and professional development. Have a flexible approach to dealing with challenges and look for new creative activities to introduce to sessions.
Working with the wider community
Work to build strong links with the community, empowering them to take control over issues that affect them, in respond to demand and need. To run activities which link Kids Kabin with the wider community and facilitate local partnership working with other organisations. To encouraging parents and families to become involved in activities and enable them to support their children’s personal development.
Planning, administration and evaluation
To plan, run and organise activities that meet policy guidelines (e.g. Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, etc). To work as part of a team to evaluate, change and improve practice and to plan and implement new projects. To set clear targeted actions and follow them through as well as monitoring the outcomes of existing work. To train and support other staff and volunteers in creative and different ways.
Person Specification
- An appropriate qualification and/or appropriate level of experience of work with young people.
- An understanding of the safeguarding and health and safety implications of this work.
- Experience/knowledge of working with volunteers and the community.
- A current first aid certificate.
- Experience of working with young people in a group setting.
- Experience of monitoring, evaluation and reporting on project development.
- A commitment to community development and involvement.
