Liverpool Health Commission (LHC) would like to hear from voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) in contact with women, babies and young children (up to age 2) who have difficulty accessing antenatal and postnatal care and advice to help shape positive change in policies for women, babies and young children.
LHC is currently investigating the first 1,000 days of life - encompassing conception to 24-months old - the key period in human development when the foundations for optimum health, growth and neurodevelopment are established. While free antenatal care in the UK has seen some of the lowest mortality and morbidity rates in the world, they know poverty and it's associated conditions are affecting access to healthcare opportunities.
MVDA is supporting the LHC by connecting those who can contribute thoughts and views on how improvements can be made to support women, babies and young children to access essential services. The LHC want to hear about the difficulties and challenges faced, and learn about your success stories, with the overall aim of shaping future UK healthcare policy. We are particularly hoping to engage people working with women from the marginalised and minority communities.
If you are from a VCO and would like to hear more about this project and can contribute to shaping understanding which will influence healthcare policy then please come along to this VCS briefing event on Thursday 7 November 1.00 - 3.00pm at St Mary's Centre, 82-90 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2RW
There will be further opportunity to meet with the LHC on a one-to-one basis to contribute to the research sometime between 26-27 November.
For more information please contact Tracey Brittain at MVDA.
If you would like to cancel, please contact us before 7 November 2019 - 12:00pm.
