We are here to support, promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough

Volunteering news

TeamKinetic launched for Middlesbrough!

We're delighted to launch our new volunteer management platform TeamKinetic. This free tool will help you recruit, retain and recognise the impact of your volunteers and is fully funded by our Volunteering Academy project. We are open to register now!

TeamKinetic is already used all over the UK by volunteer-involving organisations including Liverpool FC Foundation, University of Northumbria at Newcastle and Durham County Council. Find out more about TeamKinetic.

We've been working with a few local organisations to test out the system, its features and ease of use, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Here's what Jenni from The Hope Foundation has to say about her experience:

“I am really excited for the Launch of TeamKinetic. As the Volunteer Coordinator at The Hope Foundation this will be great for me!

It's easy to use to promote and organise our volunteer roles, along with capturing volunteer hours which enables me to recognise and reward our volunteers' hard work.

Both myself and our volunteers are excited to be part of TeamKinetic.”

Benefits of using TeamKinetic to manage your volunteers

Some of the fantastic features of the system include:

  • Recruitment - Recruiting made easier, attracting more volunteers, and signing them up quickly and effectively.
  • Communicating with volunteers - Email your volunteers right from your dashboard, allowing you to communicate with one or groups of volunteers instantly.
  • Impact measurement - Measure your impact with real-time reports on all aspects of your volunteering programme.
  • Develop your volunteers - Identify those volunteers going the extra mile and help develop them further.
  • Rewards - Reward and motivate your volunteers with instant feedback, achievement badges or a personalised thank you message.

We'll be launching the platform to volunteers towards the end of April, so will need your support to make sure we have a wide range of opportunities live to advertise.

Our team is committed to helping you get onboard. This could be with training, one to one support and in-person visits to help you register with the system, upload your volunteering roles as well as use all its exciting features to recruit, manage and reward your volunteers. Volunteering Academy - end of 2023 update

December 2023: It is six months since we launched our Volunteering Academy (VA) and the time has flown by.  We have been working hard behind the scenes on the development and implementation of the VA and wanted to let you know about the progress we have made and what is coming up.

IT Platform and Website

We have now commissioned a new IT platform (TeamKinetic) to support Volunteering Involving Organisations (VIOs) and volunteers to manage their volunteers and volunteering which will be available to everyone in Spring.  A few VIOs are helping us to pilot test the management element of the new system which won’t be available to all VIOs until we have fully tested this part of the system.

Training Programme

We have developed a number of training courses some of which we have already run and others that are still in development.  There will be more training courses for VIOs and volunteers beginning in 2024 including accredited and non-accredited courses so keep an eye out for our bulletins and check out our website for updates.

Volunteering Academy Quality Assessment (VAQA)

We have developed the VAQA process and a number of VIOs are helping us to pilot test the process before we officially launch it early in 2024 enabling all VIOs to submit an application for the award.

Marketing, Branding and Social Media

We have new branding and logos so look out for updates on the VA through our Facebook page, our e-bulletins and our website. Sign up for the Volunteering Academy ebulletin aimed at volunteers by emailing suganya@mvdauk.org.uk

Partnerships

We have connected with a range of partners to help us develop our work including VIOs, schools and colleges, Social Prescribers, Probation Services to name a few.  We will continue to develop our partnership working.

Volunteer Engagement

We have held a number of sessions and events to ensure volunteers are a key part of our development work, including bring and share lunches which have proved very popular.  We will continue to find new and innovative ways to continue to engage with volunteers.

Personalised Support

We are now providing one to one support to those considering volunteering but who may not be quite ready to take the leap into volunteering.  We have also created peer support opportunities through the ‘bring and share’ events.

Leadership and management

We now have an internal team working on the VA with support from Senior Managers.

We are pleased with the progress we have made over the past six months and will continue to work on brining you more opportunities to engage with the VA and to access the services we offer.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like further information on our work here at the VA.
