We are here to support, promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough

I recently joined MVDA as a LocalMotion Middlesbrough Coordinator, a role I share with my work colleague Martin Harvey. I am passionate about supporting local communities, inspiring action, and ensuring that the stories of local people shape the way we work and create change.

Originally from Poland, I moved to Teesside for a gap year to volunteer at different charities in the North East. I fell in love with Teesside, and after spending 10 years in Boro, I consider myself a local lass.

Before joining MVDA, I worked for Public Health South Tees as an Age-Friendly Coordinator, where I championed and developed projects that reduce isolation and loneliness among older residents. My role involved facilitating collaboration opportunities, co-designing activities, and new ways of working to ensure that the town is friendly for all ages. I also worked for local charities such as Teesside Mind or A Way Out, which helped me better understand the value of a person-centred approach and thinking outside of the box when working with people.

I am thrilled to join LocalMotion a social, economic, and environmental justice network that focuses on putting communities at the very centre of their work. I am excited to see the future progress of our work and what can happen if we enable local people to take action on things that matter to them.
