Bob Beagrie is a poet, playwright and literary activist who has worked for over twenty years with a wide range of groups in both formal and informal settings, including primary, secondary and 6th form schools, in prisons, community centres, youth clubs, teenage pregnancy units, detention centres, with Crisis Skylight, with groups of refugees and asylum seekers, in care homes for the elderly, with people recovering from addictions, with Middlesbrough Mind, the Youth Justice Service and Barnardo’s, as well as being a senior lecturer in creative writing at Teesside University.
Bob will lead a series of guided exercises in simple movement, spoken word, creative writing and storytelling, taking participants through a process of creative exploration, interpretation, reflection and sharing. Many of these activities have been tried and tested on a variety of projects and proved to be effective in establishing a safe environment, stimulating creative work, providing structure and shape for developing raw material and encouraging reflective practice. The training session will allow for discussion and sharing of responses, and a consideration on how best to adapt the activities to suit the particular needs, abilities and interests of specific target groups.
