Advocacy is about safeguarding people who are vulnerable and discriminated against or whom services find difficult to serve. Empowerment people who need a stronger voice by enabling them to express their own needs and make their own decisions. Enabling people to gain access to information, explore and understand their options, and to make their views and wishes known. Speaking on behalf of people who are unable to do so for themselves.
We will be exploring the varying approaches and skills required to be an advocate:
- The role of an advocate
- The different types of advocacy
- The main principals of advocacy
- Who is advocacy for?
- Why is advocacy needed?
This course will provide a solid foundation for an individual who is looking to or already works with vulnerable clientele. Allowing them to better understand their clients potential needs and how to best serve them.
