There are over 2,500 charities and not-for-profit organisations working across the Tees Valley all of which need strong governance to thrive.

Together Middlesbrough & Cleveland

TM&C is a Registered Charity delivering and coordinating social action to tackle the impacts of embedded poverty in South Tees. We also provide infrastructure, training and support to local faith, cultural, and community organisations. TM&C works with a network of partnerships to deliver initiatives including community engagement; tackling homelessness; improving health and wellbeing; reducing food insecurity, such as the Feast of Fun holiday programme; and tackling loneliness and isolation, through programmes like our current Know Your Neighbourhood B.R.I.A.N. Project - Beyond Recovery Intergenerational Activity & Neighbourhood.

Trustee skills
We are looking for people who share our values and want to make a difference in our local community. You don’t need to have been a Trustee before, but you will have transferable skills from your own work and/or life experience. This could be knowledge and experience of fundraising, business, communications, or lived experience of financial hardship.

ARCH Teesside

ARCH is a specialist Sexual Violence service based in Middlesbrough that delivers services across Tees. Established in 1997 we have over 25 years’ experience of delivering frontline support. We work with women, men, and children no matter when the abuse has taken place and whether, or not the abuse has been reported to police. Demand for our support is growing.

We provide a range of support including therapeutic support, play therapy, a parent’s and carers group, practical and emotional support, and an independent advocacy service for anyone thinking about or who has reported to the police. We also raise awareness of the impact of sexual violence/abuse through training and awareness raising activities and deliver prevention work through local schools and youth settings.

Trustee Skills
We are interested to hear from pro-active and enthusiastic women, who share our commitment to ending violence against women and girls. If you have skills in finance, fundraising, marketing, charity governance or business development we would also like to hear from you.

You will be asked to help us deliver our new strategy and we are looking for a commitment to:

  • Attend up to six board meetings per year,
  • Be responsive to communications between meetings,
  • Participate in training opportunities as applicable to the role,
  • Take the time to meet our team and be a visible trustee,
  • Represent ARCH at events from time to time.

We would especially welcome applications from black and minority ethnic women and younger women who are under-represented on our board. This position is unpaid, but expenses will be covered.

Captain Cook Birthplace Trust

The objects of the Trust are:

  1. To raise and promote the profile of Marton, Middlesbrough as ‘The Birthplace of Captain Cook’.
  2. To support the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum.
  3. To raise funds in support of these and other aims and related activities.

Trustee skills
No particular skills are required. Membership of the Trust shall be open to anyone who supports the aims of the Trust and who is not disqualified from being a Trustee.

The affairs of the Society are managed by a Board of Trustees comprising of twelve Trustees, of which three are  Representative Trustees appointed by Middlesbrough Borough Council and the remainder shall be Community Representatives.

Trustees would welcome interest from anyone with an interest in Captain Cook or the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum.

APLE

APLE is a national collective of individuals and organisations with lived experience of poverty. Our aim is to create a sustainable, grassroots network across the UK to raise awareness of poverty, challenge the stigma surrounding it and contributing to its eradication. As a network, we promote the voices of those with lived experience of poverty and we work collaboratively with others to influence change.

We are looking for new people to join APLE. We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who are able to make a real contribution to the APLE Collective through their skills and experience. Seeking trustees, particularly with a strong background in fundraising/income generation, HR and policy development.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Committed to our vision, mission, and values.
  • Able to dedicate the necessary time and effort to carry out the Trustee responsibility effectively (1 day per month)

Teesside Ability Support Centre (TASC)

Since 1967, under several different names, Teesside Ability Support Centre provides a service for adults with differing abilities. Today, we welcome over 100 members across our two venues. The main centre is on Acklam Road, Middlesbrough, and a smaller resource hub is in Coulby Newham.

TASC is a modern supportive day service for adults 18+ with physical disabilities who need support in many aspects of life. At TASC we have qualified staff who support the members’ needs by providing all personal care and lunchtime support. We focus on empowering our members to manage their lives.

Seeking trustees, and in particular those with skills in legal/contract law, personnel, disability/social work or with a financial background.

The Board would welcome interest from anyone with an interest in helping the disabled community.
