We are here to support, promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough

Ageing Better

MVDA is working with The Hope Foundation to deliver the community development element of Ageing Better Middlesbrough - a six-year £6 million Big Lottery Fund programme aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation for people aged 50 and over in Middlesbrough.  The community development project has a number of different elements, all focused on helping to identify different ways to connect local people to their communities.

The community development project focuses its efforts on the prevention elements of the Ageing Better Middlesbrough Programme.  A small team of staff work to increase the number and variety of communities activities and groups available to older people in local neighbourhoods and other communities of interest and identity.  Work takes place with whole communities, prioritising older people at risk of loneliness and isolation.  Our work is broadly delivered in three key areas: community action and community projects; volunteering and digital inclusion.

The main contacts at MVDA for the ABM Community Development Project are: John Atkinson, Lesley Spaven and Kelly Baxter
